I was born and raised a Mormon and still to this day identify as a Mormon. However, I need to be true to myself and open about the things within the church that do not point in the same direction as my moral compass. I am not okay with ecclesiastical abuse. I am the main provider for my family and treated equal to my male counterpart at work and in my home. This is not the case in Mormon culture. When I go to church, I feel as if I have been violently thrust back into the 1950’s. As a woman in the church I feel like a second class citizen. This cognitive dissonance is unsettling. Mormonism has taught me to have integrity and I need to be honest with myself and help shed some light on these issues. This conversation needs to happen. I believe women should be ordained.
