My name is Andrea. I am married and have two children. I also have a 4 year degree and work part time in business. I was raised in the Church as the oldest of six children and most of my family is still active. I started having questions about eight years ago, and have been inactive since. However I was recently called to be an ASL interpreter, out of the blue, so I go to church alone nearly every week.
Whether or not I believe women should be ordained is not as important to me as what is behind it. I have come to believe in ordination for women, but I believe the most important thing is to have open dialogue about something that a number of people feel strongly about. Those of us who support ordination may be the minority, but that doesn’t make our revelations, questions and opinions less valuable. What is important to me is the 9th Article of Faith. “We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.” How can we push something like ordination of women aside, when one of the very articles of our faith promises that God is still speaking?
My conscience is speaking loudly to me, so I cannot stay in hiding anymore. I want to post a public profile because if and when God does allow women to be ordained, I want to be on this side of it. I believe women should be ordained.
