I was raised Mormon and my wife is Mormon, so I still have very close ties to the religion. I no longer believe its teachings, but I do believe in universal women’s equality, and I feel that the Mormon church should allow all of its members to be on equal grounds. I was in an Elder’s Quorum Presidency through three Quorum President’s when I became aware of the inequality within the church, and I think it’s wrong to hold people to different standards based solely on their gender. I work in the media, and as such try to keep very well-informed on what’s going on in the world. With this perspective, I find it most unfortunate that a multi-billion dollar entity such as the LDS Church focuses its teachings and resources on stiff gender roles. I believe in equality for all; I believe in helping one another regardless of differences; I believe women should be ordained.
