Hi, I’m Laura. I have been a member of the LDS Church my whole life, but I have not been without my doubts. However, I have come through those periods of doubt with an increasingly stronger testimony of the truth of the Church and that I belong here.
I believe the gospel of Jesus Christ. I believe in love; both in loving God and in loving my neighbor. I believe that Joseph Smith, though an imperfect man, was a prophet of God and I believe the same of Thomas S. Monson. I believe in the power of the priesthood as God’s authority on earth. I believe I am the daughter of Heavenly Parents. I believe we are all the sons and daughters of Heavenly Parents, and that they love their children as I love mine. Because I believe that “all are alike unto God” (2 Nephi 26:33), I believe that priesthood power is inherent in our divine natures as children of Heavenly Parents, not as men or women. My heart aches when I hear other women say they are too busy or too burdened to hold the priesthood. I believe it can be an immeasurable force for good in the lives of women, should we allow it.
I believe “…all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and…. that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God” (Articles of Faith 1:9). I have faith that church leaders will continually follow the direction of the Lord, and that they will continue to seek for the things that the Lord will yet reveal, especially pertaining to female ordination. I believe women should be ordained.
