I am a college student from the Southeast studying linguistics. I was born and raised in the LDS Church, and attended BYU-Provo for three and a half years. I have recently left the school and the Church and plan to finish my education elsewhere.
I have always believed that there should be no differences in the ways we treat men and women, and that our societal expectations for someone should not be determined by his or her physical or psychological characteristics. The fact that biological sex is the primary factor for determining whether someone can or cannot receive the priesthood or attend a certain meeting is problematic in my eyes. Though I have left the Church, the majority of my friends and family are still members, and I continue to be involved in this cause in order to create a healthier environment for my female loved ones to live in. I believe women should be ordained.
