I’m Sandy,
I am the mother of three amazing young adults. I am also an artist and a farmer.
I was born into church membership and served a full-time mission in Norway. I also served in a two-year Peace Corps assignment in West Africa.
I was married to my husband of 22 years in the Temple the first time. I have served in two RS presidencies, one YW presidency and have taught Gospel Doctrine, Seminary, and Primary.
I credit my church training and participation with every beautiful thing in my life.
Nevertheless, the unfortunate and unnecessary consequences of inequality are unrelenting.
They do incalculable, far-reaching harm to the third and fourth generation.
Inequality presumes to blunt the calls to minister that come directly from God to women. It cuts in half the talent and work-power available to the task of preparing the earth for the 2nd coming of the Savior. It clouds the elegant value of women while it confuses the limits of the entitlement of men.
So many are lifting where they stand to improve the temporal and spiritual well-being of all God’s children. I express my gratitude for every effort and sacrifice to that end.
I also respectfully submit that Ordination of Women is the most efficient next move in solving our problems as a church as a nation and as a world. Priesthood authority is what defines us as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We don’t recognize any earthly power the same way. As long as women remain under the jurisdiction of men rather than partners with them, we cannot live up to our privilege. We cannot finish our work on the earth. The ordination of women does not mark the endpoint achievement of equality.
It marks the beginning of the reach for it.
I believe women should be ordained.
