私の名前はマークです。アメリカのユタ州に住んでいます。１９７８年から１９８０年まで、モルモン教会の宣教師として日本の福岡伝導部で貢献しました。
私の仕事は弁護士です。また、 大学で法学 を教えています。 人権の平等について学生に教えることはとても重要です。教会においても、人権の平等は大切です。私たちは神の子として、 全て等しい存在であるべきです。モルモン教会では、教会の儀式を行う上で神権を必要とします。そして、すべての重要な事柄は神権者により決定されます。 神権という特権は男性にだけ与えられているため、女性は教会では 力を持っていません。女性は教会の中では権限がないため、彼女らの才能や能力を十分に発揮することができません。その上で、女性が神権を授かる必要があります。
My Mormon roots go back several generations. I served a mission in Fukuoka, Japan, from 1978 to 1980, and my mother and grandmother were both strong advocates for equal rights. My grandmother fought for the Equal Rights Amendment as a member of the Utah House of Representatives.
I am an attorney and also a teacher. There is nothing as satisfying as teaching my law students about the long fight for equality throughout America’s history. As long as women lack institutional authority within Mormonism, they will be in the position of begging men for scraps from the table. In the Mormon church, priesthood is power.
I believe that as God’s children, we are all equal before Him. However, God can only manifest this equality once women have taken their rightful place as holders of the priesthood. That’s why I believe women should be ordained.
